 Synopsis

In 2010,Staff Sergeant Aaron Heliker returned from multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), in addition to third-degree burns and nerve damage from a roadside bomb. At his most desperate and isolated time, on 42 medications and suicidal, Aaron is introduced to the unlikeliest of saviors: a horse named Fred.

Robin Fryday, Co-Director

Robin Fryday is a Still Photographer, Filmmaker and Documentarian.  Her work has been used to raise money and bring attention to programs which feed and educate children globally.

In 2010 Robin founded Purposeful Productions, Inc., an entity developed to create humanitarian and educational films.   Her first film ‘The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement,’ premiered at Sundance in 2011 and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012.  In 2014 she released ‘Riding My Way Back,’ a story of a veteran a horse and healing. She is currently in post-production on a short documentary titled ‘The Old Movie House,’ a film about the importance of restoring small theaters in home town communities.

Peter RosenbaumPeter Rosenbaum, Co-Director

For over 25 years Peter has been telling narrative stories through still photography.  As an advertising photographer he has created images and campaigns for many of the top retail brands in the country.

His personal work has also been exhibited in group and solo exhibits in private galleries as well as The Chicago Cultural Center, The Museum of Contemporary Photography and The Hyde Park Art Center. Although Peter considers himself primarily a still photographer, he has also designed a museum installation for the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, won awards for both photography and television campaigns, and developed a business platform for a group of strategists, creatives, producers and business leaders.

While Peter is completely at home on a commercial film set, this collaboration with Robin Fryday is his first experience in documentary production.
