Directed by Matthew Hausle
United States | 10 min | 2013
A conversation with Jan C. Scruggs on what it took to create the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall, and his efforts to fund the creation of the proposed Education Center to be built near the wall. The Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall has become the most visited attraction in Washington, D.C.
With a career spanning over 25 years in Film, Television, and video production in Los Angeles, Matt has shifted to documentary producing and directing. Over the past 7 years he has produced and directed four feature length documentaries (two receiving Academy Award nominations) profiling our country’s efforts to locate, recover, and repatriate the remains of those who gave their lives in WW II in the South Pacific. Matt continues to focus on subjects related to the military. His latest, a short subject on the “Stars N Stripes”, newspaper to our military since the Civil War. His current entry in the GI Film Festival is a short documentary on Jan C. Scruggs, the force behind the most heavily visited tourist attraction in the nation, The Vietnam Veteran Wall, and on Jan’s tireless efforts to fund an Education Center, near the Wall, to honor our military’s sacrifice in defending our freedom since the founding of our country..
