Michael Chan is a veteran with a message to deliver audiences about the difficulty of joining the service in his film appropriately titled Choice. The story, based on Michael’s own experiences, is about a young man enlisting in the Marine Corps after 9/11.
“There are decisions in life that are difficult to make. And whatever that decision or choice is, we have to look beyond ourselves and pursue a greater good. I think the hardest part for me was to leave home, to leave my friends. I was comfortable where I was, but I wanted to do it for myself,” Michael shared.
“At the time, it seemed as if enlisting was frowned upon,” he said, adding that he felt inspired to set the record straight about enlistment.
Aside from filmmaking, the New York City native enjoys bike riding and traveling to the beach. His favorite movie of all time is Good Will Hunting.
