The GI Film Festival, which will take place May 6-12 in the Washington, DC metro area, is pleased to announce that renowned film and television actor and director Mykelti Williamson has joined the GI Film Festival’s line-up. Mykelti will serve as an Ambassador for the GI Film Festival’s long-time sponsor, the Gary Sinise Foundation, during the festival’s Wounded Warrior Appreciation Night, which will take place Thursday night, May 9, 2013 at the AMC Hoffman Theater in Alexandria, Virginia.
Mykelti is well-known for his extensive movie and television work which includes, Heat, Con Air, Twist Of Faith, Ali, Lucky Number Slevin, ATL and the beloved role of Bubba in the Oscar winning movie, Forrest Gump opposite Tom Hanks – as well as The Fugitive, The Good Wife, 24, and CSI NY to name a few.
Moreover, the veteran actor/director most recently signed on to Fox’s exciting new drama pilot The Wild Blue from Justified’s executive producer, Taylor Elmore and Graham Yost, directed by Michael Dinner. “The Wild Blue” will center on the working men and women on board a U.S. aircraft carrier equipped with a 500- foot landing strip, a nuclear reactor and 6,000 people on board. Williamson plays Master Chief Donald Bowman, the senior enlisted man on board ship and direct liaison between the officers (upstairs) and the enlisted (downstairs).
