GIFF Partners with Operation Gratitude in LA

OpGrat DRK BLUE Hi Res
Veterans who attend the GI Film Festival LA event in early November will have a happy surprise waiting for them- care packages from GIFF’s partners at Operation Gratitude.  Operation Gratitude is a non-profit volunteer-based organization whose mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to our Military and their families the appreciation and support of the American people.
Annually the organization sends 100,000+ care packages filled with snacks, toiletries, entertainment and handmade items,  plus personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in harm’s way, to their Children left behind, and to Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors and their Care Givers.
Through Collection Drives, Letter Writing Campaigns, Craft Projects and Donations of funds for shipping expenses, Operation Gratitude provides civilians anywhere in America a way to express their respect and appreciation to the men and women of the U.S. Military through active, hands-on Volunteerism.
Supported by First Lady Obama, Ben Affleck, Ed Asner, Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna, the non-profit will send its One Millionth Care Package on December 7, 2013.
Working together is a perfect partnership for the two organizations.  While the GI Film Festival is preserving the images and stories of the GIs by proving entertainment through films and events, Operation Gratitude reminds them that they are not forgotten with the care packages.
