Recollection
SGT John Mann is a fifteen year veteran of television and film and is currently serving active duty as a broadcast journalist in the United States Army. From traveling with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, covering humanitarian efforts in Haiti to foot patrols in Afghanistan, John Mann finds his passion in telling the stories of the men and women serving in the Armed Forces and the families supporting them back home. John earned a BS in Communication and Film Studies from Milligan College in 2001 and will soon complete a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture and Television from the Academy of Art. His works as a writer and director include shorts, feature films, documentaries and music videos. He has also guest lectured on film aesthetics, story structure, and production techniques and at Milligan College and Kentucky Christian College, where he has also taught students the ins and outs of low-budget video production by guiding film students through the full product creation process from pre-production through post. John currently serves as a top producer at the Department of Defense’s Pentagon Channel, interviewing the top leaders in the DoD and producing high profile products of all recent Medal of Honor recipients. Back home, John and his wife Heather are busy raising their overly-energetic children Jonathan and Hanna; trying to impart an appreciation for the power of media without rotting their brains from too much television.
