The
GI Film Festival, which will be held May 12-18, 2009 at the
Carnegie Institution in
Washington
,
DC
is pleased to welcome five time Emmy Award-winning actor
Kelsey Grammer as a special guest for the festival’s
congressional reception honoring military veterans in
Congress. Kelsey
will join scheduled honorees Senator John McCain and Senator
Daniel K. Inouye at the reception, which will be held in the
prestigious Russell Senate Caucus Room on Wednesday, May 13.
Kelsey
Grammer has excelled at the highest level in theater,
television and film as an actor, producer, executive producer
and director
Best
known for his portrayal of psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane in
the classic NBC sitcoms "Cheers" (1984-1993) and its
spin off "Frasier" (1993-2004), Kelsey Grammer is a
five-time Emmy-Award winner.
He is also the first actor in television history to
receive the award for portraying the same character in three
different series (Cheers, Frasier and a guest appearance on
Wings.) Kelsey
also starred in HBO’s award-winning television film The
Pentagon Papers as Major General Partridge and played George
Washington in A&E’s Benedict Arnold.
Major Motion picture credits include Swing Vote, X-Men
Last Stand, An American Carol and Down Periscope.
In
addition to roles in television and film, Kelsey has also
provided the voices for popular animated characters such as
Sideshow Bob from "The Simpsons" and Stinky Pete in
"Toy Story 2," among others.
Kelsey
is currently executive producer of the primetime television
shows "Medium" on NBC and "The Game" on
The CW Network. Other
recent works include "Girlfriends" on CW and
"The Sketch Show" on FOX. In
addition, Grammer will serve as executive producer and star of
the ABC comedy pilot "Pryors."
Kelsey also serves as the
narrator to one of the GI Film Festival's 2009 Official
Selection Feature Documentary, Warriors...in their Own
Words.
