 GI Film Festival to Launch New Weekly Prime-time Television Series on the Pentagon Channel

GI Film Festival Films to Receive Unprecedented International Exposure

Washington, DC – Thursday May 17, 2012 – The GI Film Festival is launching a weekly television series on The Pentagon Channel with new shows every Friday night.

The show, called “The GI Film Festival on the Pentagon Channel,” will feature the “Best of the GI Film Festival”, airing films originally showcased during the festival.  Each original show will be re-broadcast throughout the week.  The inaugural show will premiere during the 2012 GI Film Festival, Friday, May 18 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

The Pentagon Channel is broadcast to 34 million homes domestically via satellite and cable television and to all military bases worldwide.  The first feature film will be “Flag of My Father,” with William Devane and John Schneider.

“We could not be more excited about the chance to bring films about and for GI’s directly to servicemen and women around the world,” said Brandon Millett, President of the GI Film Festival. “The Pentagon Channel gives GIFF unprecedented international exposure.  We are thrilled to give our incredible films this opportunity.”

“This is different than anything you’ve ever seen on the Pentagon Channel before,” Scott Howe, Operations Manager at the Pentagon Channel, said. “We have had individual documentary feature films, historical docudramas combining old footage with recreations, but we’ve never had narrative drama with scripts and actors with a blend of drama and news.”
