Donald McQuade
The Eagle and the Pit
Born into a family of movie lovers, Donald McQuade spent his youth writing and directing short films with the family’s Hi8 video camera in southwest Florida. With a desire to share his love of filmmakers like Kubrick, Truffaut, and Wilder with others, McQuade founded the Edison Film Society in Ft. Myers, FL at the age of 16.
Now in its fifth year, EFS is a collective of film enthusiasts who give the community the opportunity to screen independent and foreign movies as well as give college and high school students the opportunity to make their first short films. He specialized in writing and directing at Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts. While at FSU he wrote and directed several short films including Night She Fell, The Eagle & The Pit, Morgue: a love story with guts, and produced Joseph & Hyrum and A Narrow Compass. McQuade has worked on marketing teams for award-winning films like The Cove, Bright Star, and The Baader Meinhof Complex. He currently directs music videos and is writing a feature screenplay.
